Trail Rides/Cabalgatas

Ride in a locally organized cabalgata or create your own with our surefooted and steady horses! Occasionally, throughout the year, we have opportunities for additional experienced riders to join us in a traditional Mexican cabalgatas (akin to ‘trail rides’ in the USA). In Mexico, these large horseback riding events usually precede a Jaripeo (bull-riding event) or are associated with the celebration of a Catholic patron saint.

For larger groups of riders, and with sufficient time for planning, we can assist in creating your own cabalgata through the mountains of the UMA Los del Carrizal and into adjacent ejido lands if so desired. Contact us to discuss how we can make your trip to Rancho El Carrizal and the El Zamorano mountain range memorable today!

Cattle Drives

Assist the Rancho El Carrizal community in moving cattle from one mountain pasture to another. This is a unique opportunity for EXPERIENCED riders only. Every 4-6 weeks we rotate our many of our ~400 head of cattle from one of our 17 fenced pastures to another to prevent overgrazing. We are always looking for additional assistance with this effort. Be part of this unique experience for only $1500 pesos, including horse rental, tack, food and drink.
